Web Development

This course utilizes the in-browser Skill Struck Learning Platform and gives students access to the HTML 1 & CSS 1, HTML 2 & CSS 2, JavaScript 1, and JavaScript 2 courses.

HTML 1 & CSS 1

The curriculum includes coding exercises and practice on the Skill Struck platform interspersed with classroom collaboration activities, discussion points, supplemental materials, and unplugged activities. Rather than learn coding concepts all at once, this course walks students through the basics of coding alongside other topics such as digital citizenship, the internet, and data. This integrated approach keeps students engaged with diverse learning strategies and fresh topics. Students from 6th grade through high school enjoy this class. Students work individually and as teams to build innovative and competitive coding solutions. HTML and CSS are the languages used to build and style websites. Students will be able to build their own websites throughout this course.

HTML 2 & CSS 2

This course dives deeper into web development as students discover more of what HTML and CSS can do. Students explore the possibilities of bootstrap, animations, and tables among other topics. Students polish their websites further, adding sophistication and interaction to their sites. Students will need to have completed HTML 1 & CSS 1 to understand HTML 2 & CSS 2.

JavaScript 1

The curriculum includes coding exercises and practice on the Skill Struck platform interspersed with classroom collaboration activities, discussion points, supplemental materials, and unplugged activities. This course walks students through the basics of coding alongside other topics. This integrated approach keeps lessons diverse, and students engaged. Students work individually and as teams to build innovative and competitive coding solutions.

JavaScript 2

Students dive deeper into more advanced JavaScript topics as they learn about objects and the basics of object-oriented programming. They discover the possibilities of jQuery and learn just how dynamic their websites can be. Students will need to have completed HTML 1 in addition to JavaScript 1 in order to understand JavaScript 2.
